Hello Country Music fans,
It is time I update the webpage. We want to wish every one a Happy Spring and Easter. Spring came early! As we all know, that we did not really have a winter not that any of us were complaining but now that spring is here lots of work to do. Seeds to go in the ground for the gardens, lawns to clean spring cleaning to finish. The chores never end. My dining room looks more like a green house right now as Alan has plants growing all over. Not just a few but HUNDREDS of plants. We have been involved with the Farmers Markert for a few years and last year was just not good year but we are hoping this year will be good. We belong to the Minnesota Grown Association and proud to grow vegetables without any pesticides. We can’t call it Organinc as we have not yet been certified for that but it is all natural and Chemical Free. So if you looking for fresh vegetables and not sure where they are coming when buying in the store. Then please email me or call me with your order of how much you would like during the season and we will try to help you.
We have picked up our summer jobs and a few new ones as well as the ones we have been playing for years we would to thank those venues for inviting us back.
We also have some thank you’s to put out to our crowd as many of you know the last couple months we have had a couple of little upcoming country artists on our stage. One of them is Kaden Gadacz the drummers middle son of 3. Kaden is 4 and sang the song Slow Train. His first time he did it with the cd to help keep him on track as where he needed to come in on the verses as he does not read yet. When Dan our son approached us we were like yea sure he can sing he is four. Our son said mom I ‘m telling you he can SING. So to appease my son and grandson We brought him home to try out. To OUR surprise the GRANDSON can sing and keep on pitch we are so proud of him. Then the 2nd time around Kaden asked me if he could sing with the band without the cd that he thought he would be fine with Rick and Papa Playing so he knew where to come in. We agreed and he blew the crowd away as well his parents and grandparents. So we are so glad to have talent running into the third generation. Music is in their bones as it was in Alan’s. Now for our next to youngest grandson who is another Musical talent he is really interested in playing guitar and again we had this oh yea sure about us. But when it came right down to it Cody has the bug to. He is only 3 + but has the talent to play guitar while watching and listening to him you can see he has the rythm and the natural ear like Kaden to hear what he is playing. Cody is always watching Alan’s hands to see how to play chords he might not have it down yet but give him time and he will. As well as he watches Alan Godage & Sundown every day on video he even has some of his favorite songs picked out. Cody was put on stage but we never figured he would want to stay on stage the whole time to my surprise he did not want ot get off. Cody played at the Milaca nursinghome for the first time and got raves from the crowd they may not always be on a country stage but wherever they can get the praise from and that applause they will sure to keep up the want to to keep playing. Kaden on the other hand has always been on the stage sitting next to his dad. It should not as a big suprise as to the grands kids having musical talent when they are around it everyday. As for Dan he had every pot and pan and bowl and different sounding spoon out of the cupboard every day banging on it. But while he banged on them we saw the potential of next Classic country Drummer which he has been since the age of 14. Our girls you may remember have been on stage since they were 4 and 5. Jenny the oldest started singing with her dad at a very early age and she could hear the harmony so they did a lot of duets. Jenny is married and lives far away, then Angie started singing with Jenny and they were well known at a early age for their Judds songs and were very good. Angie is married has 4 kids and lives a great distance away also, but she and Melody started doing some of the songs her and Jenny used to do. And you all know that Melody loves being on that stage with her dad and has the female version of her dad She loves to sing and is at every job possible and lives the clossest of all the girls. If there was a way we could have them all home and singing at the same time it Would really be our dream as parents. Angies oldest son is going to be a drummer is a dummer in band in school. Megan our next oldest grand child wants to be a country singer we don’t get to work them as much but we do see the potential in all of them.
So as time goes by you may see a younger version onstage but we never want the grandkids to ever be discouraged. But it will not be where we or the parents push the kids if the want to is there we will encourage them. We never want our friends or fans or family to feel we are pushing the grand kids on them as we also understand a lot of fans, friends family come to hear Alan Godage and Sundown. But all of our kids understand this is a business and we have to run it like one and even for the upcoming next generation. I am the only one with no muiscal talent as far as singing or playing an instrument but If I were to sing you would all leave so I will stick to do doing sound.
Again I want to thank all you for your loyality and better yet friendship
Happy Easter and lots of love to each and everyone of you from me and
Alan Godage & Sundown
Alan, Dan, Melody Lane, Greg, Rick, Kaden, Cody
Just a quick update on Alan Godage & Sundown. As it has been in the past the first few months of 2012 are a little slow for the music scene. Clubs don’t want to book as they are afraid of the weather and the ones that do book take it one month at time. Mr. Jim’s being the exception to booking us on a regular basis . To them we want to Say a very grateful thank you as when we play on the 22nd of January it will be one year to the day that Alan Godage & Sundown started playing at Mr. Jim’s. Where did the time go? With great friends and new crowds every time we played at Mr. Jim’s has been a joy. It did not matter as to the weather being good or bad you all supported Alan Godage & Sundown. We wish to thank all of OUR Loyal fans and friends for that support. Without you we would not be back at Mr. Jim’s and of course the Support of Mr. Jim’s and the staff their make it very easy to want to book it. Thanks to all of you!
Now on to band news you will notice this time when we play that Kenny Huston is no longer with the band. It was a business decision and a tough one at that . As Kenny had never missed a job and NEVER complained to me about the Long Drive he had. However, it was taking its toll on Kenny and he was not seeing it on his health. I asked Kenny to take some time off to get his health back in order and that seemed to really upset him that was not my intent as all of our band members were concerned for Kenny. So for the good of Kenny who was making music more important than his own health I did what I felt was best for the whole team. Kenny Please Take care and to all of Kenny’s fans and friends please keep Kenny in your Prayers.
As you will see on the schedule we are back at all of the summer events and have added some we have not had in a couple of years. We are looking forward to each and every one of them and thank all of the boards for giving us the chance to return year after year.
Stay safe and very warm,
Your friends in classic country music,
Barb

FOLEY, MN – The classic Country sounds of Alan Godage and his Sundown band are coming back to Mr. Jim’s by popular demand on Sunday, December 11, 2011 so mark your calendar now and be sure to get down to the Mr. Jim’s for another great afternoon of dancing and good listening.
You surely won’t want to miss the return engagement of veteran singer, songwriter and the acoustic guitarist Alan Godage on his sweet sounding D-41 Martin guitar and his awesome Country band Sundown. It has been said that Godage is a maverick in the Classic Country Music World.
His rich voice has brought thousands of new fans to Classic Country Music from every corner of the world. Alan Godage is known for his clear diction and rhythmic delivery that combined with his naturally deep, resonant voice makes him a singing sensation. Godage is a mellow, romantic, smooth singer who pronounces his words so you can understand them. He knows how to make every word mean something. Godage has a lot of heart and puts that feeling into his songs. This musician has the ability to find feelings in the words, put him self in that position and then relay that to his Classic Country Listeners. Godage has avoided stereotypes in this business.
So what makes Godage different? Well, when he sings the hair on the back of your neck will stand up, you get goose bumps and he gives you shivers up and down your spine. In other words you don’t just hear the music you FEEL it. Godage and Sundown love what they do and it shows. Alan Godage works very hard to make the other band members successful along with him. He is a very talented vocalist, entertainer and professional who works harder than most people at his craft. He is a perfectionist and you will appreciate it when you hear him and Sundown as they carry you away on the dance floor or in your seat!
A number of things set Alan Godage & Sundown apart from a lot of other bands that are out there. They specialize in music from such Country legends as Charley Pride, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Conway Twitty, and Hank Williams Sr. to name a few. This band is very versatile and can play a variety of styles. They do a great job on country rock, fifties, gospel and even a little old time. Godage and Sundown do not work from a ”set list” they prefer to be spontaneous. They are always happy to play requests and are well equipped to keep any crowd satisfied. The band has a loyal following, seeing many of the same people each time they perform. No two shows are “EVER ALIKE”.
The Sundown band consists of Dan Gadacz on drums and back up vocals. He is also Alan’s youngest son. Dan started drumming on the pots and pans at age 2. By the age of 12 he had his first set of real drums. Danny is a help to the band other than just a drummer. He is their get it done kid who loads and unloads the trailer. He is their “I” can get it or I will help figure out what cord is not working. I’m not sure he even knows how much he is appreciated because he is not only the drummer but my kid says Alan. Kenny Huston is the steel guitar player, soloist, and back up singer for the Sundown band. Huston started playing when he was 10 years old; his first instrument was the Dobro. He also plays lead and bass guitar but his first love is the steel guitar. Rick Jenkins is the Lead guitar player for the band. Jenkins started playing with his Dad early on. He was playing chords on the ukulele starting about age 3. Rick says, “really I have pictures to prove it.” Greg Gonsior is the bass player, soloist and back up singer in Sundown. Gonsior started playing guitar when he was 13. And last, but not least is Melody Lane who sings part time with Sundown. The youngest of Alan’s 5 kids, she grew up listening to Classic Country Music and credits Patsy Cline, Kitty Wells, and Patty Loveless as being some of her influences. She has been singing since she was five. She’s outgoing and loves to dance. Backing up this whole crew of talented Classic Country musicians is their manager and booking agent Barb Gadacz. She is the biggest supporter and promoter of Alan Godage & Sundown. She does everything from answering the phone to signing the contracts. It’s Barb who gets the credit for the band sounding as good as they do. She knows how Alan Godage & Sundown should sound and she never settles for less than the best. Her band is always willing to give her what she knows is the best they have to give for their audiences. The odds are pretty good that before the show is over Barb will have greeted every person in the room. She loves her job and Alan Godage the Sundown band and knows you will too.
